Artwork Kokeshi

New artwork! These little 4" x 6" paintings were inspired by the traditional Kokeshi dolls of Japan. This was all set off about a year ago when I spotted these at the Philadelphia Art Museum which led me to research, which led me to drawing. They started in my sketchbook with the simple shape of the dolls and patterns culled from Japanese fabrics and papers (although the 3rd one here is looking like somewhere in Africa, right?) More to come.

I love all of them! But No. 3 is definitely my favorite!

Your intent was to inspire and you have succeeded...makes me wonder why I'm sitting in the library and not my studio.
The color, charm and wit in your work has made my day.
And you look pretty darn cute in that pic, too!

This is delightful! You're inspiring. I always mean to try mixed media stuff but never get around to it.

Yes, please feel free to link to my minibook tutorial and use the photos. I'm so glad you like it!

I love them! The third does look african but the second one looks like I do (to myself). Thanks for the note to come over here.
