Four paws on the ... umm ... floor?. Well I've done my best to get a great picture of our new addition, but Mr. Inca is either in motion or completely corked. Typical male (although he has not yet reached for the remote control). Inca (Ink, Inky, Inkspot) is about two years old and came to us through our local rescue center last Sunday. Totally black, including nose, whiskers and paw pads, but in the cat-liest yin yang manner there is a stray white hair here and there.
We had a bit of trouble naming him. I thought "Sumi" for Japanese ink and, indeed, he moves like glossy black ink from a bamboo brush - dancing swirling furling smooth movement.
Jon, bless his western soul, said he didn't feel like having to explain our cat's name. Well, ok, so American for Sumi is Ink. Ok again.
Bess comes home and says, "no - Inca" that is Incan (what?) for Prince. In our kitty-worshipping household this certainly is appropriately named. So there we are. Inca is super silky and loves to show that off. He's a lap cat, allowing us to pet and worship and feed and play.
He's forged a new place in our hearts.

Adorable. Of course, I immediately heard Jimmy Durante singing "Inkadoo" in my ear! Have a wonderful weekend.
cute!! love the name too ;)
And he is Glorious! What a perfect name for such a regal kitty! Blessings to you for reaching out to a kitty in need. He has found his 'forever' home with you!
He's quite handsome and well deserving of a royal name and the royal treatment I am sure he is getting.
Sending a warm welcome to Inca. What a sweetie he is. We welcomed a rescue cat about 6 months ago, a gray boy (all monchromatic gray with li'l white paws). I named him Jasper Johns, tee, hee, for obvious reasons.
Anyhoo, I've just listened to your interview with Rice. I so enjoyed hearing of your experience w/NL as I am leaving for my photoshoot in just 1 week. I had to crack up at your 'escape to the bathroom' to think....your have given me a brilliant idea.
And I had to pop right over to Amazon to order a copy of your book post haste :-)
He's looks and sounds like a real lover! Enjoy!
What a little sweetie he is!! This is the second kitty I know of named Inca. Still love the name Sumi-maybe Inca needs a playmate?? LOL! I wish you all the best with your new family member! :)Linda
Great cat pic! He looks like he has some rascally dreams going on in there! We just adopted an 8yo orange tomcat from a shelter rescue group that fooled everyone into thinking he was an angel and once he wormed his way into our hearts he became a rascal. So LOOK OUT! Hee hee.
