Bon Voyage

How to describe the last two weeks of my life?

Two weeks ago tonight, my daughter called to say that she and her SO had been accepted into Americorp and were moving in two weeks (today). Two days later my mother in law had a stroke and, sadly, passed away peacefully last Thursday. Throughout all of this tumult, joy and tragedy, I wrote the words in my last post. I wish I could have spoken them to June before she died. We'll miss her. I will miss her keen observations and intelligent book discussion (and her feisty independence).

Today, we waved goodbye to Bess and Charles as they headed west dragging some of "Nana's" furniture in a rented UHaul. I made a little slideshow for my family and here it is if you'd care to watch.

Safe journey to Bess, Charles and June
Watch it here on YouTube.

You will be happy that you had such a lovely mother-in-law and sad at her loss.
Also you will be happy for your daughter and her partner but sad they have moved.
Sad and happy is a mix of life isn't it.

Where in Missouri are they headed? I live in Missouri and was just wondering what Americore is doing in this state. Life changes all the time, doesn't it. Makes you realize how important it is to appreciate every moment of time you have with others.

I am sorry to hear about the loss of your mother-n-law, I'll keep you and your family in my prayers. What will your daughter and her boyfriend be doing for Americorps? Back in my social service days I worked with several Americorp-VISTA volunteers, it's a really great program - I'm sure they are going to have the experience of a life time!

Dear Diana,
We never know what is round the corner do we and your last two weeks have been eventful for sure. I am so sorry for the loss of your dear mother in law and hope that you will have many happy memories of good times with her. No doubt you will feel the loss too of your daughter and her partner as they head west for adventure together. I am reminded of a quote I like: "joy and sorrow are sisters; they live in the same house".

I'm sorry for the loss of your mother-in-law and happy for the adventure of your daughter and her SO!

Summers in MO are hot and humid, but it will get better in about 6 weeks! They will be about half way between St. Louis (where I am) and Springfield and close to Fort Leonard Wood. Small towns and lots of needs to be met. Good for them!
