Hey, there are new art journals on the block from Strathmore! Here is the link to a full description on Strathmore's site. Here is a link to the prices and to purchase.
I've had these blank books in my happy hands for a couple of weeks now. The watercolor paper is nice and thick, cold press (rough surface). I like the cold press because it really holds more color in its nubbiness-es than hot press (smooth surface). The back side of the paper is smoother. All the pages from the Non-Linear Jouraling post were done on the watercolor paper.
If you are into rubber stamping, transferring images and acrylic paints, the Mixed Media journal paper is also nice and thick and smooth. I'm enjoying both the size (9"x12") and the paper. Here is a peek inside mine. Smooth enough for stamps, heavy enough for gesso, collage, portfolio's and acrylic paints. Yeah. Very good.
I believe Michael's will be carrying them and my local art supply store, Allegheny Art in Jenkinton and Newtown, PA.
I can't say enough about supporting your small local businesses. Allegheny's prices are actually better (sometimes even with that much bally-hoo-ed Michael's coupon) than the big box craft shops. Their staff is helpful and friendly and, what can I say? they are terrific.
