Snowday. Snowy. I lie in bed looking out the window this morning and decide that working at home doesn't prevent me from having a snow day. So I drink tea for a while and read The Way the Crow Flies by Ann-Marie MacDonald which is satisfyingly long at 845 pages. Poke into the far corners of my sewing/diningroom. Shovel out Snow Part I. A friend comes over and we drink (more) tea and talk and talk: Art. Story. Meditation. The Critic. We talk in present tense for the most part. What tumbles into our minds, floats out. I stitch.
It occurs to me that tomorrow is NudgeDay. So here ...
Teddy and I are nothing-ing today. Poking around. Listen to the weather report. Turn off the TV. Sit with quiet around me. I use my Portfolios and a pencil on an old page. A piece of yellow vellum, some little scraps of paper. A smudging with my finger, wet and dry. A scraping and scribbling with a pencil. The color is so warm here on this page and here in this cozy house. When it is so cold-black, white and gray outside and the wind is whisking the snow around. A bit of warmth within a snow globe.

That page looks comfy warm. It sounds like a great day for exploring what's at your finger tips. Even the cat is color-coordinated.
Warm colors are in order today. I love the metaphor of your world within a snow globe.! xox Corrine
Looks and sounds so warm and cozy! It is snowing here now, I'm hoping for a snow day tomorrow:) Thanks for the nudge and have a great weekend.
hi, diana! it's robin, teddy's foster mom! i check your blog now and then to see if he is mentioned or photographed. (i'm incredibly unartistic, although i do read the substance of your blog. perhaps you've heard of my cousin - shelley spector? she's an artist....) anyway, so glad to see teddy featured today - he's so big! i remember you saying that you look forward to having a furry someone help you with your work and keep you company during the day - and i see that the Little Lion is up to the job! such a lucky boy!!!! give him a big squeezy hug from me!
My granddaughter would agree with you. She is homeschooled but through the California school system and she'd like to know why, when the regular classes get a holiday such as Martin Luther King Jr. Day off from school she doesn't. So her mom unofficially gave the kids the day off anyhow. Everyone needs a "snowday" sometime. Hope it revitalized you!
Oh Robin! I hope you read this response. Teddy is growing into his paws for sure. He's just so much fun to have around. We have an excellent time together. I have to spell out the word "play" because as soon as I say it, the Little Lion is scampering toward his favorite play spot, checking over his shoulder to make sure I'm following. I just love him and the feeling appears to be mutual.
You are a great foster mom. He's a loving, healthy kitty. Please feel free to email me for pictures and I will definitely give him a big hug.
I like the warm colors of your journal page. It's also always more fun to have a warm kitty around when making art..
