The Art Is ... Report

Dateline: Danbury Connecticut, Art Is You October 2010 Retreat.

Oh my yes, the prep work is SO worth it when I finally get to teach. The folks here have opened their arms, minds and hearts to meeting new friends and absorbing new ideas. As usual, I learn as much as my students and am so grateful to Sallianne and Ellen for their tireless enthusiasm and excellent instincts in putting together an altogether top-drawer art retreat experience for all of us.

The Colorwheel Journal Quilt class. We spent the morning splashing around watercolors and exploring color theory to create papers.

The Rescue Book class deconstructed an old book and then rebound them into a journal ... Second Rescue-er from the left is Sallianne's mum, Kareene all the way from Australia!

Am having a GREAT time.

I truly enjoyed the rescue book journal workshop and have already started working a bit in my new journal...

I resisted my urge for perfection and decided not to go back and fix the minor details that were bugging me... this is a big deal for me as I have a very hard time leaving well enough alone...

I have already started scouting out old books in need of rescuing, unique and unusual papers to spark creativity to fill their covers, and bits and bobbles to adorn these wonderful creations...

I hope you will return to Art-Is-You... and look forward to participating in some of your other workshops if you do...

Oh yes! I plan on returning to Art Is You! I have a new idea for a rescue book for next year, too.

Stitching on paper rocks! No worries about it having to be worn or used ;)
