Dreaming ... |
Of InkTense Watersoluble pencils and markers |
I had to do a few things first, like pack my dozen or so boxes and bags into the car and drive to Connecticut for Art Is You. Then unpack them. Then I had a lovely dinner with a student/friend and THEN ...
I used my letter stencils with the InkTense pencils. The markers blur the watersolu-bility of the pencils - yummy; a great idea I picked up from the Journal Junkies. Listen: my lettering ain't so great. Is yours? If it isn't, try using a highlighter or other very broad marker to print then go around the printing with a finer line marker or stencils. This nudge was inspired by Uber Art's journal page here at the Flickr group. Teesha Moore has (had?) a fab YouTube vid on lettering but I can't find it! If you have it bookmarked, could you link it in the comments?
Have you looked at those photographs from Nudge 3? Drool.

Those pencils and markers look cool, I need to check them out.
Here are the links to Teesha's lettering videos.. they are all under Tracy's account so tricky to find.

Another new reader!
Inktense pencils are my absolute favorite watercolor pencils. i got a set several months ago and am having a blast with them! i recently got a set for a friend online, and i keep telling people to try them. i should be their spokesperson, maybe. ;)
Welcome new readers! and thanks Heather. J - I KNOW - those pencils. I never like colored pencils till I found those.
how have I missed the other nudges?!!! life is whizzing by very fast at the minute, hopefully it'll slow down next week and I can catch up. I LoVe Inktense pencils, hadn't seen this technique, thanks for the heads up :)
so pleased to have found your blog (by way of lyric )......love my new art journal, working on the other nudges, & will try your ideas with my inktense pencils, thank you!
Thanks for keeping us inspired! I must try this one!
Love this nudge - and your Spilling book has revolutionised my creative life; made me think visual rather than words. (I now travel-spill, poem spill ...) I am going to try your stencil method using large stencils; at present I have a tiny sheet that goes in my travel bag and I make scribble ball-pen letters and edge them with white pen - the ballpen ink looks black but blurs into a slight blue where the white touches it (see my journaling blog for an example). Must find my inktense pencils, Gorgeous.
