Embroidery Journal

A journal I made a couple of years ago from an old men's wool jacket (thrown in the washer on hot and felted up a bit.) Needle felted circles and some embroidery.
The interior is (very) slowly being filled with samples and practice embroidery stitches.
Got stitch?

great idea putting stitches in their own journal! I'd name them so that if I needed a special one I could find it when the book is full! have fun!

Great idea to name the stitches! I have some name but am inconsistent. Will take your advice.

I have started a small "sampler" of stitches. It is just on a long narrow piece of wool. I love your book! Much nicer than my "sampler". I'm going to have to add this little project to my list.

I like that the book has texture, along with the stitches inside - a real sensory experience to work on it!

I am working on the stitched "samplers" outside of the book. Then when a page is finished, I sew it into the book. I think that I'll work on the pages and when I finish 2 of them, sew them back to back together with some interfacing between. I'm still playing. I love the idea of samplers.

I'm playing around with the idea of learning to sew by hand, so I can add some homespun stitching to my collages...the journal you show here would probably be a good place to start, to practice not only bindings and such, but different kinds of stitching styles! Thanks for sharing!

How rich and cozy this looks. It begs to be held and hugged. This is one of those projects that we see, and then it lingers around in thought until finally we can deny it no longer and we MUST make it! Thanks for sharing this. Drop by kbartdesigns.com -fiber artist, kathleen Bourgeois
